Posted on September 20, 2012

Learn the Local Language:

Learning the local language will give you confidence,  and an excuse to talk to the locals. This will also get you some respect from locals. Be sure to listen when they correct you..that’s how you really get to know the language.

Keep Detailed Notes:

When meeting people while traveling it is very important to keep detailed notes of the new friends you make.  We live in a global  economy it will serve you well to have global friends. I recommend a good old fashioned journal.

Be Open Minded:

Seek out conversations with more than just your obvious peers. Some of the best connections you can make when traveling are with people of all ages. I find you can get great area information from the old and young alike.
